UrbanPlanning.app is a web-based project management platform for urban planning professionals. The service is owned and operated by Do You Need One, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website at urbanplanning.app and all related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
When you register for an account, subscribe to a plan, or use features of the Service, we may collect your full name, email address, professional role or title, organization or agency name, and any content you submit through the platform such as project notes, file links, drawings, tasks, contacts, and chat messages.
Files, drawings, notes, tasks, contacts, and other content you upload or create within the platform are stored securely in our database.
When you use our zoning lookup feature, the street address you enter is sent to third-party geocoding and government data services to retrieve parcel, zoning, and land use information. We do not store the addresses you search unless you save them to a project.
If you connect QuickBooks Online, Google Drive, or Dropbox, we store OAuth tokens (encrypted) to maintain your connection. We access only the data necessary to provide the integration features you authorize. You may disconnect any integration at any time, which revokes our access and deletes stored tokens.
When you visit or use the Service, certain information is collected automatically. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring and exit pages, pages viewed and clickstream data, session duration, and approximate geographic location derived from your IP address. This data is collected through our analytics provider, Visitor Tracking (visitortracking.com), which uses a lightweight tracking script and first-party cookies to monitor site usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels.
We do not directly collect, process, or store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other payment instrument data. All payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. through their secure payment infrastructure, including Stripe Link, which allows you to save payment methods across Stripe-powered platforms. Your payment data is governed by Stripe's own Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy.
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve the Service; to create and manage your account; to process subscriptions and billing through Stripe; to send transactional notifications such as project shares, status updates, and account alerts via our email provider, Resend; to facilitate real-time communication between users and their clients through the platform's internal chat feature; to monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the user experience; to respond to support requests sent to support@urbanplanning.app; to detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse; and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for marketing emails. Resend is used solely for transactional and operational notifications.
When you search an address in our zoning lookup tool, that address is transmitted to the following third-party services to retrieve property and zoning data:
Only the address you enter (and its geographic coordinates) is sent to these services. No account information, name, email, or other personal data is transmitted with these requests. These government services have their own privacy policies governing data they receive.
When you connect your QuickBooks Online account, we access your financial data (invoices, customers, payments) solely to display and sync this information within your UrbanPlanning.app workspace. We do not sell, share, or use your QuickBooks data for any purpose other than providing the integration service you requested. You may disconnect QuickBooks at any time, which revokes our access and deletes stored tokens.

We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or with successor entities in the event of a merger or acquisition.
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption for all data in transit, encryption at rest, Row Level Security (RLS) at the database level ensuring users can only access their own data, secure authentication with hashed passwords, and secure OAuth token storage. While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. Additionally, Visitor Tracking (visitortracking.com) places first-party cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track session activity. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or retargeting pixels. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain analytics functionality but will not prevent you from using the Service.
Regardless of your location, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your account and associated data, and export your data. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us at support@urbanplanning.app.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) provides you with additional rights:
Categories of Personal Information Collected (preceding 12 months): Identifiers such as name and email address; internet or electronic network activity information such as browsing history and interactions with the Service; and professional or employment-related information such as role and organization name.
Categories of Personal Information Sold: None. We do not sell personal information.
Categories of Personal Information Disclosed for a Business Purpose: Identifiers (to Supabase, Stripe, Resend, and Vercel) and internet activity information (to Visitor Tracking and Vercel), solely as described in Section 6 above.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or compliance purposes.
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly. The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services, including Google Drive links shared by users. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external service you interact with.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
